SERVICE UPDATES IN THE SOUTH PACIFIC; TONGA, SAMOA AND KIRIBATI

The Pesega Dental Clinic in Western Samoa opened back up in October, 2022. The Pacific Area has now allocated two dentists and their spouses to serve as full-time missionaries in the Pesega Clinic. We can also have dentists who volunteer to serve in the clinic for 10 clinic days or more. The full-time missionaries are called for 1 year, 18 months, or 23 months. Nice housing is available on and off campus for a reasonable rate. Samoa is very family friendly.

The Liahona Clinic in Tonga should be open by the first of February. Elder Hiram Hatch and his wife have been called as Clinic Directors in the Liahona Clinic. They are working in Fiji until they can get clearance in Tonga. The Liahona Clinic has also been allocated for two full-time dental missionary couples as well as volunteers with a minimum stay of ten clinic days. They can volunteer for longer periods of time as well. There is usually on campus housing available at Liahona. Tonga is also very family friendly.

The Moroni Clinic in The Republic of Kiribati, formerly the “Gilbert Islands” is now under construction. (three cheers!) The earliest possible completion date is the end of February. This clinic is not Church owned. It is operated by Charity Vision and the Ensign Academy of Dentistry. Hopefully it will be ready for volunteers by June or July. Minimum stay is 15 clinic days. The clinic is two stories with the second story being an apartment for the volunteers to stay in.
